Shakira Tweets Picture of New Baby!

Bellydancing singer Shakira has welcomed her first child into the world!

She and boyfriend Gerard Pique introduced their six pound, six ounce son Milan to the world by posting a photo of tiny Nike’s embossed with the new tyke’s name.

Will little Milan follow in his soccer-playing father’s footsteps? Pique is letting the world know that already Milan is a fan of his daddy’s team, and “became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.”

Milan was born Tuesday. The couple announced his arrival in a joint statement.

“We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Pique Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Pique, born January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain.”

The two added helpfully that Milan “means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.”

Last week the two held an unconventional baby shower—online! The two asked fans, family, and friends to donate their gifts through Unicef, to help donate supplies to children living in the world’s poorest communities.

In late December, Pique pranked the world by releasing a fake announcement via Twitter of Shakira’s delivery.

“Ya ha nacido nuestro hijo! Estamos muy felices! Gracias a todos por vuestros mensajes!”

Translation—“Since our son was born! We are very happy! Thank you all for your messages!”

Har. Har. Har.

Shakira will be joining Usher as a substitute coach on the upcoming season of “The Voice,” the two stepping in for Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. She is also working on a new album.
