Seth MacFarlane's Series 'Dads' Gets Full Order From FOX
by Shannon KeirnanUpcoming Oscar host Seth MacFarlane seems to be living the charmed life lately. Not only does he have animated comedies like “Family Guy” still going strong, and made a successful transition to the big screen with his kids-tale-grown-up “Ted,” but now FOX is snapping up a new MacFarlane series.
“Dads” has been ordered straight to series by the FOX Broadcasting Company… no tentative first few episode or pilot orders when it comes to MacFarlane.
Live-action “Dads” was picked up for a six-episode series order, and that’s a lot more than most shows can say.
The show will follow two successful 30-something men who find their lives turned upside down when their terrible fathers are forced to move back in with them.
Also on board for the project are Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin, co-writers on the $400 million grossing “Ted.” Wild and Sulkin will write and executive produce the show, while MacFarlane will reportedly serve as a third executive producer.
MacFarlane certainly has a lot on his plate. He currently helms “Family Guy,” “American Dad!” and “The Cleveland Show.” He also has an updated version of “The Flintstones” on hold at FOX.
“Ted” is also rumored to have a sequel in the works. The original “Ted” marked the feature-length directorial debut for MacFarlane and was wildly popular at the box office.
Oh, and he’s recording his own swing album. Did you know he’s a classically trained singer?
And, finally, though the reported couple have mostly stayed off the radar, MacFarlane has been linked to “Game of Thrones” beauty Emilia Clarke.
Well done, MacFarlane, but you’re making everyone else look bad.
Does “Dads” sound like something you’d be interested in watching?
