Seth MacFarlane Sings About Boobs in the Oscar Opener...
by Shannon KeirnanIn case you missed the opening of tonight’s Oscars and don’t really know what everyone’s talking about… yes, Seth MacFarlane sings.
Yes, it’s a song about boobs. At The Academy Awards.
“In the movie that we saw, we saw your boobs,” the funnyman sings, with a chorus of tuxedo-dressed men behind him (The Gay Man’s Chorus of Los Angeles).
These aren’t just small-bit actresses MacFarlane’s calling out to. We’ve got Anne Hathaway. Marisa Tomei. Halle Berry. Nicole Kidman.
Meryl Streep for pete’s sake. Is it even lawful to talk about Meryl Streep’s naked bosom in America without lowering your voice with utter deference?
Poor Naomi Watts looks horror-struck to be mentioned.
Kristen Stewart, Helen Hunt, Scarlett Johansson… who will probably be especially annoyed by the reference to her phone-hacking leaks.
Jessica Chastain, Jodi Foster, Hilary Swank, Penelope Cruz….
Kate Winslet gets her own stanza.
Jennifer Lawrence gets a shout-out as well… but not for baring the top. Just a gentle hope that someday she will? May one please pay attention to the eyes of all of those sitting near her. Shame? Disgust? A little bit of disappointment?
The most cringe-worthy part of the entire bit? Charlize Theron’s embarrassment. Real or feigned, it really doesn’t matter. The woman literally helped save a man’s life (kind of) earlier that night when she went to the aid of an Oscar security guard suffering from a seizure. Give the woman some respect. Okay, well. There’s this. But still.
What did you think of the opening act? Did you laugh and gently toss MacFarlane an “oh, you?”
Or was the number tasteless to open the prestigious Oscars... even though Captain Kirk warned us?
