'Selfie' Season 1, Episode 9: 'Follow Through' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanEliza goes to check on Henry in his office, and finds him trying to market diaper cream. She shows him how it can be used as an under eye glow. He encourages her to pitch it, but she is reluctant.
Downstairs at the cafe, Henry runs into a few of Bryn's friends, who seem to find him attractive and invite him to book club. Henry goes to check on Eliza and finds she has not yet pitched her idea, so he forces her to Sam's office. He has her pitch, and Sam loves the idea. The only problem is they can't advertise a product for an unofficial use, so they need a way of getting the word out.
Eliza offers to use her prominent social media presence to get word out. She goes home to figure something out, while Freddy asks if she wants to meet his parents. Then he falls asleep without sex. Eliza freaks out - it's the first time they've slept together without sleeping together. Charmonique explains that their relationship is just at the next level.
Henry finds Wren in his office, attempting to seduce him. He politely rejects her.
Sam invites Henry into his office for a celebratory sandwich, but finds that his usual lunch delight has been corrupted. He calls down to the deli and finds that Wren's heart is broken, and thus her sandwiches for the office horrible. Sam tells him to fix it, so Henry goes to speak with Bryn, but she refuses to give him a proper sandwich.
Henry finds Eliza working late for once. She tells him about dinner with Freddy's parents. Her outfit isn't appropriate since she won't have time to change. Henry offers his coat, and she magics it into a stylish dress. Henry reminds her to put her phone away.
Eliza takes his advice, and notices how many people in the restaurant are on their phones. Even Freddy's family, who follow her on Instagram. She also notices, for the first time, as she and Freddy are usually on their phones when together, how annoying he is. When everyone at the table order salmon but she can't commit to it, she dumps Freddy and leaves.
Henry goes to Bryn's book club to apologize to Wren.
Eliza realizes that the only person who doesn't see her through a social media filter is Henry. She runs into Henry in the elevator and decides to give his jacket back. She strips bare.
Henry decides he has to go home to feed his non-existent cat, and cuts a hasty, confused exit.
