'Selfie' Season 1, Episode 8: 'Traumatic Party Stress Disorder' Recap

It's the week of Henry's birthday. Of course, Henry wants to keep it under wraps, but Eliza is thrilled at the news and wants to celebrate. She also insists on getting him a gift, so he challenges her to find something meaningful yet modest.

Eliza consults with Larry and Charmonique on what to get him. She wonders what he doesn't have - fun. She decides to throw him a fun party, but Charmonique thinks that's a bad idea.

She shows up at midnight and gives him two tickets to Blue's Traveler. She stalked and stalked to find an old picture of him wearing the band t-shirt in 1994. He thanks her for accomplishing the task.

Eliza is haunted by that statement. She decides that when he is at the concert, she will set up a surprise party for him.

When he is gone she busts in and starts to go crazy, but Freddy, who leaves shortly after, reminds her to match the party to the person. Henry brings Julia to the concert, where is is wildly out of her element, but Henry seems to be enjoying himself. He gets increasingly into it.

Eliza settles on an office-themed birthday party, choosing something that he loves.

Julia is not having fun, and is harshing everyone's mellow, so she goes to leave. Henry reluctantly decides to accompany her, but is still into the concert, and she takes off without him. Henry declares this is why he doesn't let it all hang out.

Dejected Henry goes home to find his surprise office party, and is less than pleased. He yells at Eliza in the kitchen, but everyone hears that he doesn't want them there, and they go home. Eliza, who spent her childhood birthdays alone, is hurt, and leaves.

Julia shows up and apologizes to Henry, admitting that when pushed out of her comfort zone she becomes judgemental and cold. He looks around at the decorations and realizes he did the same thing to Eliza.

At work he apologizes to her and admits he had fun at the concert. She knows - a video of him dancing has gone viral.
