Selena Gomez Targeted by Protesters at Adidas NEO Event

Selena Gomez Targeted by Protesters at Adidas NEO Event Selena Gomez, recently named ambassador for Adidas NEO, was surprised when she was the new target of protestors at New York Fashion Week.

The protestors, representing “United Student Against Sweatshops’, urged Gomez to “be an ambassador for children, not sweatshops.”

The protest is in reference to Adidas’ refusal to “pay roughly $1.8 million in legally-owed severance to 2,800 of its Indonesian workers”. This refusal to pay has cost many workers in Indonesia education for their children, and sometimes even food.

The protestors also claims that Adidas is the only company that refuses to pay this severance pay, out of all the companies that contract this Indonesian warehouse.

“We’re here to tell Selena Gomez that she should cut ties with Adidas because Adidas has refused to pay severance to 2,800 garment workers who sewed its apparel for over 10 years,” said one of the students.

A few students made their way inside, and handed out their fliers along the front row of the runway before security eventually escorted them.

Gomez, the 20-year-old ex of Justin Bieber and active (almost ironically) member of UNICEF, was reportedly taken aback by the protestors, but had nothing to say about them when addressing the audience at the fashion event.

When the students were asked how they managed to get inside to the event, they revealed that they had tickets that they had won over twitter.

Adidas has yet to comment.
