Selena Gomez Netflix Series to Star 'Goosebumps' Actor

Producer Selena Gomez's 13-episode adaptation of the young-adult novel 13 Reasons Why will feature Goosebumps star Dylan Minnette in the lead role and will also star Australian actress Katherine Langford. Gomez herself is on board only in the producer's role and will not appear on screen.
The series is a reworking of the 2007 novel in which a young man sorts through the final thoughts of a friend who committed suicide. In the story, the young woman leaves behind a collection of cassette tapes containing explanations of the thirteen reasons that she decided to kill herself, along with messages for the 12 people she says contributed to her decision.
The series is being written by Brian Yorkey, whose previous TV and film writing credits include Sluts and The Bears Next Door; he is also the writer of the Tony- and Pullitzer-winning Broadway musical Next to Normal. Minnette will appear this August in the horror film Don't Breathe. Thirteen Reasons Why will be Langford's first major role. Gomez can currently be seen along with Paul Rudd in the Netflix adaptation of the novel The Fundamentals of Caring.
