See Jennifer Lawrence's Bold (And Crazy Different) New Red Carpet Look
by Andy NeuenschwanderEver since she broke out as Katniss in "The Hunger Games," or perhaps even before that in her Oscar-nominated role in "Winter's Bone," we have come to expect a certain look from Jennifer Lawrence on the red carpet: bright, sexy, sleek (but not that sleek) and, most notably, blonde. The word "bombshell" is often the first thing that comes to mind when J-Law hits a premiere, with "hot damn" a close second.
But Lawrence called a fashion audible at the premiere for her new movie "The Silver Linings Playbook" at the Toronto International Film Festival, showing off a brand-new look that still dazzled.
Sporting her brunette locks for her return as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," Lawrence took a new approach from the full-bodied, wavy 'do that she normally shows off. Her dark, straightened hair was accompanied by bright red lipstick and and a red and black gown, with black nail polish, the whole ensemble suggesting a hint of purple. The gown was a strapless Christian Dior Haute Couture number, accompanied by black Dior shoes and a minimalist silver bracelet.
The response from fans and fashion critics has been mostly positive, keeping Lawrence's streak of fashion flop avoidance alive. Some are missing the "Hunger Games" star's usual golden look, though, and calling this one a little too "goth." To them we say watch out: the girl knows how to handle a bow and arrow.
