'Secret Life' Star Shailene Woodley up for 'Spider-Man 2' Role

Could we end up with a trio of Golden Globe nominees in "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequel? If new casting rumors from the production are true, then yes!

Shailene Woodley, who spent many years on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," is rumored to be in talks for a major role in the upcoming sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man." If chosen, she would join returning star Andrew Garfield and, most likely, Emma Stone (though a deal has not been settled yet for Stone's return).

Woodley's role will mostly likely be that of Mary Jane Watson, who was played by Kirsten Dunst in the Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" trilogy. In fact, Raimi's trilogy sort of mashed the characters of Gwen Stacy and MJ into one: in the comics, Gwen is Peter Parker's first love, and MJ comes in later.

This would be a major win for Woodley: she has already been nominated for an Oscar for her role in "The Descendants," but has not yet landed in a big-budget, high-profile picture.

What do you think of Shailene as Mary Jane?
