Second 'Walking Dead' Season Adds 'Vampire Diaries' Star Lauren Cohan

Second 'Walking Dead' Season Adds 'Vampire Diaries' Star Lauren CohanSupernatural” is more than just a line-item on the resume of the latest cast acquisition for AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” It’s been a theme of her career’s successes so far.

TV Guide Magazine and TVLine report that “Supernatural” and “The Vampire Diaries” veteran Lauren Cohan has joined the cast for the zombie apocalypse-based show’s second season. Cohan appeared as advantageous thief and fence of supernatural artifacts Bela Talbot on the third season of “Supernatural” and as British vampire Rose on “The Vampire Diaries.”

She’ll now play Maggie Greene, the daughter of zombie-surviving farmer and veterinarian Hershel Greene, to be played by Scott Wilson (“In Cold Blood,” “Monster” and “Junebug.”) Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Deadwood” and “The Mentalist”) will be playing Greene Family ranch hand Otis.

In the ongoing graphic novel series, the Greene Family are tragic figures synonymous with loss. Hershel loses his children one by one, and along the way eventually crosses paths with Rick Grimes (played in the series by Andrew Lincoln) and assists him with planting crops in the yard of a semi-abandoned prison.

"She's in her twenties and is a survivor who ends up as a romantic interest for Glenn (Steven Yuen)," says executive producer Gale Anne Hurd.

The second season of “The Walking Dead” will debut this October – just in time for Halloween – on AMC.
