Scotty McCreery vs Lauren Alaina (Again): Whose Single Placed Higher on the Country Charts?

Scotty McCreery vs Lauren Alaina (Again): Whose Single Placed Higher on the Country Charts? It's the first big step into the music industry for any "American Idol" finalist: releasing their first hit single for the world to enjoy...or in some cases, not enjoy.

But things are looking good for country-style finalists Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery. Scotty was the one to win the top spot on "American Idol," but did his single also outperform Lauren on the country charts?

In a word, yes.

The digital releases of the songs saw Scotty's "I Love You This Big" (yeah, that's the actual title. Unfortunate, isn't it?) selling 171,000 downloads. Lauren's "Like My Mother Does" also sold well, but fell short of Scotty's benchmark, selling 121,000.

On the country charts, "I Love You This Big" made its debut at No. 32, which is the highest debut for a new artist on record. "Like My Mother Does" made a strong debut as well, coming in at No. 49 according to Billboard.

The two young stars, aged 16 and 17, are planning a series of appearances throughout the country music scene, including the CMT Country Music Awards, and possibly a performance at the Grand Ole Opry. So if you're in Nashville, you might be able to spot two of country's youngest stars trying to get their faces out there to the public.

Oh, and if you see them holding hands or anything, let us know...the kids still won't say if they're dating or not!
