Schwarzenegger's 'Apprentice' Draws Trump-like Ratings

If Donald Trump wants bragging rights as the most successful host of Celebrity Apprentice - and we're guessing he does - then he's got them, at least so far. This week's debut of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the series' new host saw a significant drop from last season's premiere with Trump at the helm.

Arnold's debut drew 4.9 million total viewers and earned a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 age demographic. That's off by about a third from Trump's final season premiere in January 2015. Monday's episode placed third among network shows behind The Bachelor and Kevin Can Wait.

If you want to fact check Trump's inevitable boasts, though, take a look at his last season as the series' host overall, rather than just the premiere ratings. Arnold's 1.3 rating is not far behind that season's average rating, and Trump's Apprentice often took fourth place among network shows in its time slot. The difference is that, in addition to losing to his competition on ABC and CBS, Trump was also regularly beaten by Gotham on Fox, while Arnold only had to go up against that network's MasterChef Celebrity Showdown.

The truth is, Celebrity Apprentice was far from a smash hit with Trump doing the firing, and it looks like audiences aren't much more excited about the prospect of Arnold at the head of the table.
