Schwarzenegger Leaves 'Apprentice,' Blames Trump

NBC's Celebrity Apprentice might or might not be continuing after this season, but it certainly won't be continuing with Arnold Schwarzenegger as host. The former Governor of California announced today that he's leaving the show, and he made no secret of the fact that it's Donald Trump's "baggage" that he's eager to get away from.

Ratings for the latest season of the series have been low, and Schwarzenegger thinks that's because Trump remains as an executive producer on the series. Trump's unpopularity with a wide swath of the American public can't be helping the show's ratings, and despite Trump's boasts that he was a "ratings machine" when he hosted the show, the series was already on a downward trajectory before he left.

Rumor has it that the network was likely to cancel the series even before Schwarzenegger's announcement, given the show's low ratings. There are reports, too, that many advertisers have pulled their ads from the series as associations with Trump become increasingly toxic for businesses.
