Watch: Scary New Promo for Alfonso Cuaron's 'Believe'
by EGNBC has released a promo clip for the new sci-fi thriller series "Believe," which will premiere on the network on March 10. The series' pilot was directed Alfonso Cuaron, who just on the Best Director Oscar for "Gravity."
The series tells the story of a young girl named Bo, played by newcomer Johnny Sequoya, who has the gift/curse of supernatural abilities. Her powers have drawn the attention of some people who might want to hurt her, and some other people must try to protect her. The vague premise sounds more than a little like Stephen King's "Firestarter," a movie version of which starred Drew Barrymore way back in 1984.
In the promo, Bo rides in the back seat of a car traveling along a dark, rainy road. In the front seat are a couple who may or may not be her parents. All seems peacefully until the trio are menaced by a car that comes out of the darkness behind them. After that, all kinds of bad things start happening.
Cuaron is a co-creator of the series, and although he's only directing the pilot, he's stayed on the project in the role of executive producer, along with prolific producer/director J.J. Abrams. The pilot is set to air on Monday following "The Voice."
