'Saved by the Bell' Actor Sentenced for Stabbing

'Saved by the Bell' Actor Sentenced for Stabbing While we once loved him as the unfortunately dorky Screech on "Saved by the Bell," it's been a long and steep fall for actor Dustin Diamond.

The actor was sentenced Thursday to four month in jail after he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct.

The incident happened on Christmas night at the Grand Avenue Saloon in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Diamond's fiancee, Amanda Schutz, allegedly pushed a woman who was harassing her. A fight quickly escalated, and Diamond pulled out a switchblade knife and stabbed a man.

The injury was not life threatening, and Diamond insists he was defending himself and his fiancee.

"Even though my intentions were to solely defend a loved one, they were never the less the cause of the single most terrifying experience of my entire life," Diamond said before the sentencing.

The court wasn't on Diamond's side during the proceedings. District Attorney Adam Gerol said that the Diamond and his girlfriend instigated the fight, saying it was a "mere dust-up" before Diamond pulled out the blade.

"We cannot have knives getting whipped out in bars within seconds of a mere pushing and shoving match," he said.

Diamond will also be paying $1,500 in restitution to the victim, as well as serving 15 months probation. He has been ordered to stay away from the victims and from the bar, as well as to maintain "absolute sobriety" until the end of his probation.
