Sarah Michelle Makes a Return with New TV Thriller; Fans May See Double

Sarah Michelle Gellar is making her way back to television in more ways than one. In the new CBS pilot “Ringer,” Gellar will be playing two characters: a set of twins on the run from the mob.

Sarah Michelle Makes a Return with New TV Thriller; Fans May See Double The former Vampire Slayer will also serve as co-executive producer for the show.

Audiences are right to expect another edgy thriller from Gellar. But instead of battling blood sucking demons, she’ll be up against organized crime.

Playing sister Bridgette, who is fleeing the mob, Gellar assumes the life of her wealthy twin sister, Siobhan (also played by Gellar), who died in a boating accident. As chance would have it, Siobhan happens to have a bounty on her head as well.

Peter Traugott, another producer of the show, told Entertainment Weekly magazine the show is “an edgy thriller about redemption and revenge.”

“There’s a point of view of two twin sisters who grew apart over a tragedy in their past. And one now seeks redemption and the other one seeks revenge,” Traugott said.

Gellar has previously drawn between 4 and 6 million viewers during original airings of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." However, celebrity bloggers are already wondering if she will break “the Buffy alum curse” that only David Boreanaz (Angel) and perhaps, Alyson Hannigan (Willow) seem to have shaken.

Hannigan can currently be seen as Lily on the CBS hit comedy “How I Met Your Mother,” while Boreanaz plays Agent Seeley Booth on Fox’s “Bones.”
