Sarah Michelle Gellar Celebrates Buffy on Instagram

It's hard to believe it's been that long, but if you were born on the day that Buffy The Vampire Slayer debuted, you're eligible to vote in this year's Presidential election. Sarah Michelle Gellar, the Slayer herself, took to Instagram today to mark the 19th anniversary of the airing of the series' first episode.

 

After that first airing, Buffy went on to enjoy seven successful seasons on the WB and UPN networks, and it helped launch the career of creator Joss Whedon, who became something of a nerdy hero and went on to directorial superstardom at the helm of The Avengers. The series has also been the highlight of Gellar's acting career, and her Instagram post expressed gratitude for the opportunities the series has afforded her.

 

All seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are available for streaming on Netflix.
