Samira Wiley Cast in 'Will & Grace' Guest Role
by EG
The revived version of Will & Grace has been trying to boost its ratings by bringing on well-known guest stars, but so far, the guests' fame has mostly been of the same vintage as the original series. That's not true of Samira Wiley of Orange is the New Black and The Handmaid's Tale fame, who has some current celebrity. Read on for details.
Will & Grace is recruiting another familiar face for its second season.
Samira Wiley has booked a recurring guest arc on the NBC revival, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The Handmaid's Tale star will come on board for three episodes when Will & Grace returns in 2019.
Wiley will play Nikki, a cool and confident woman working in the same building as Karen Walker (Megan Mullally). When the pair get snowed in at the office, Nikki gets the newly divorced Karen to open up about her love life.
Wiley joins a growing list of guest stars who have already appeared on season two of the reboot — technically season 10 for the Emmy-winning comedy from co-creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. David Schwimmer continues to guest star as Grace Adler's (Debra Messing) boyfriend and, when speaking with THR earlier in the season, the co-creators hinted at a bigger role for the Friends alum throughout the 18-episode season. Other guest stars have included Jon Cryer and Matt Bomer, along with returning players Alec Baldwin, Minnie Driver, Leslie Jordan, Blythe Danner and Robert Klein.
Will & Grace aired its final episode of the year on Dec. 6 and returns with new episodes on Jan. 31. In the first episode back, Chelsea Handler guest stars as a high-powered client of Grace's who reveals herself to be a romantic interest for Grace's sister Janet (played by returning guest star Mary McCormack).
The comedy, which also stars Eric McCormack and Sean Hayes, has already been renewed for another 18-episode third season.
