Ryan Gosling's Movie is So Bad It Won't Be in Theaters

Ryan Gosling may have had a good year in his personal life, what with having a child with Eva Mendes and all, but his professional life wasn't quite so great.

This year, Gosling directed "Lost River," a feature film that he also wrote. Gosling assembled a decent cast, including "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith, "Mad Men" star Christina Hendricks and Gosling's own baby mama Mendes. Yet, when the movie premiered at Cannes, it was widely panned.

In fact, the screening at Cannes was so bad that the movie drew some boos and a decent chunk of the audience left early.

Now, it seems that Warner Bros. is recognizing the movie's potential to be a flop, and is abandoning any plans for a theatrical release. Instead, Gosling fans will be able to rent or purchase the film at home through its "home entertainment" release.

That means that "Lost River" will likely be released in a similar manner to "The Interview," being available on Google Play, iTunes, YouTube and other streaming or for-purchase platforms.

Encouraging for the movie is the fact that "The Interview" just brought in $15 million over the four-day holiday weekend via on-demand sources. However, without the controversy that "The Interview" had, it's highly unlikely that "Lost River" will meet that number.
