Ryan Gosling Joins Movie Forces With Dr. Who... Happy Valentine's Day. Power couple alert!

No, not Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. Eva out.

Now it’s Ryan Gosling and Matt Smith turning heads.

Previously reported, the “Drive” actor will be making his directorial debut with the upcoming “How to Catch a Monster,” a film the gorgeous star also wrote.

Now the leading man for the film has been cast, and it’s none other than the eleventh Doctor Who, Matt Smith.

Other cast members already include Christina Hendricks as Billy, and unfortunately, Eva Mendes as a woman named Cat who works at a fetish club called “The Big Bad Wolf,” alongside Billy.

The film is described as “fantasy noir,” and centers on Billy, a single mother struggling to raise her two sons.

The movie reportedly combines “fantasy noir, horror, and suspense into a modern day fairy tale” when Billy is “swept into a macabre and dark fantasy world.”

Bones, her 18-year-old son, also deals with the mystical when he discovers a secret road that leads to an underwater town.

“Both Bones and Billy must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.”

The movie is set to begin filming this spring, and will hopefully be releasing in 2014.

Detroit is being considered as a filming location, making Michigan suddenly seem like a much better place to be. Gosling also filmed “The Ides of March” in Detroit. The film is still looking to cast major members.

Producer Marc Platt is excited for the film. He says that Gosling “has composed a beautifully haunting script and has a very clear vision of how he will bring it to life. His ability to draw audiences into his world as an actor will serve him well as a filmmaker.”
