UFC at the Movies: Ronda Rousey, Georges St-Pierre, 'Captain America' and 'The Expendables'

When UFC boss Dana White finally allowed female fighters to compete in the UFC, his intention was undoubtedly to get his promotion in front of new viewers and generate some wide-audience excitement. His plan has worked brilliantly, and the women of the UFC are showing up all over the place.

Earlier this month, bantamweight contender Miesha Tate made a splash in the ESPN Magazine "Body Issue," and now we get word that bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey is headed for an appearance on the big screen.

MMA Weekly reports that yesterday Sylvester Stallone announced via Twitter that he will include Rousey in the third installment of his "The Expendables" franchise. Stallone didn't offer any details in the tweet except that Rousey "will show championship form" in "Expendables 3" along with boxer Victor Ortiz.

It's big news for Rousey and the UFC, but it won't be the first time that a UFC fighter takes a shot at becoming a movie star. Welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre is already part of the cast of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and he'll hit the screen in April 2014, before Rousey gets there in August. St-Pierre will play the villain Batroc and will likely get to mix it up with Cap (although his chances of emerging victorious are extremely slim).
