Rose McGowan To Guest Star On 'Once Upon a Time'

Rose McGowan To Guest Star On 'Once Upon a Time' The ABC hit “Once Upon a Time” certainly doesn’t shy away from flashbacks that help audiences understand their characters better… but this time we’re going to be going way back.

In the season two origin episode, “Charmed” alum and pouty sexpot Rose McGowan has been fingered to play the younger version of Regina’s evil mother, Cora (Barbara Hershey).

The episode, which airs next year, will center around Cora. Maybe we can finally found out how and why Cora turned out just so dang evil.

“So thrilled to have @Rosemcgowan joining us on #OnceUponATime,” Tweeted show creator Adam Horowitz. “Welcome Rose! So grateful you agreed to come aboard.”

McGowan is no stranger to playing witchy women. She starred on “Charmed” for five seasons as the well-meaning witch Paige Matthews, and recently played a sorceress in the “Conan the Barbarian” remake.

What do you think of the casting? Does McGowan resemble a younger Barbara Hershey? I, for one, can certainly see something similar in their faces… with good costuming and make up effects, this could be a very well done comparison.

She’s certainly a prolific enough actress to do the part justice—beyond “Charmed” she’s also been a regular in gritty flicks like “Machete,” and “Planet Terror,” and “Grindhouse.” She will also be taking on some classics coming up, including “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Bell Jar.”

“Once Upon a Time” will return to its regular 8 pm EST slot on Sunday, January 6th. Will you be tuning in to find out what made Cora oh-so rotten?
