Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) to Star in New CBS Comedy
by Zack WellsRon Weasley (Rupert Grint) to Star in New CBS Comedy!
“Harry Potter” fans rejoice! Rupert Grint (your beloved Ron Weasley) is coming to an American television near you!
Grint has landed the lead role in CBS’s upcoming comedy “Super Clyde”.
The show is being written by Greg Garcia, the man behind such series as “Raising Hope”, “My Name is Earl”, and “Yes, Dear”.
In it, Grint will play Clyde, a gentle, well-meaning, yet peculiar fast-food worker who decides he wants to become a super hero. (“Kick-Ass”, anyone?)
Clyde feels as though he never really fits in anywhere, classifying himself as borderline agoraphobic with a plethora of anxiety issues. Deep down, the comic book nerd wishes that he were a super hero himself.
When his wealthy uncle passes away, he inherits a monthly income of $100,000, and realizes that this cash can be his secret super power. He will use the money for good, and will use it to reward do-gooders. (Not so “Kick-Ass” anymore.)
Greg Garcia, in part of his new two pilot deal with CBS, will serve as initial writer and executive producer of the series. The first pilot is “Super Clyde”, the second is currently unknown, but is said to be a comedy as well. Garcia will team up with long-collaborator Mike Fresco to direct.
This would be Grint’s first foray into American television. How do you think he’ll do? Do you have any hopes for this series?
Given Garcia’s television record, I for one, am very hopeful for this show.
