Robert Pattinson Talks 'Breaking Dawn' and Butt Crack on 'Ellen'

You may have heard that the sex scene during Bella and Edward's honeymoon in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I" almost earned the movie an R rating. While that wouldn't have been a death knell for the surefire hit, it might have hurt the box office haul a bit considering the movie's younger-skewing audience.

But what exactly was it about the sex scene that made it too raunchy for PG-13? Was it the rough nature of it, which reportedly has the bed breaking, the sheets torn and Bella in bruises the next morning?

Not quite, says Robert Pattinson. It was likely the butt crack.

"There was a bit too much butt crack I think," Pattinson told Ellen DeGeneres on a taping for "Ellen," due to air this Friday. "That was one thing I know they cut out. They didn’t cut the shot or whatever, they just cut the crack out."

When Ellen asked him out they cut out the crack without cutting the shot, Pattinson replied, "They just painted over it. You’re allowed to show cheek. You can’t show crack."

So there you have it. A little bit of Pattinson butt crack almost gave "Breaking Dawn" an R rating, potentially damaging its chances for its currently projected $120 million-plus opening weekend.
