Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro confirms The Irishman movie

Robert De NiroRobert De Niro has been doing the Hollywood circuit recently as he promotes his new hit movie Little Fockers, and whilst out and about promoting his latest movie he has also confirmed that the mafia based movie The Irishman will definitely be going ahead.

The crime thriller will have an all star cast as well as an acclaimed director, which should have audiences queuing around the block to feast their eyes on the movie.

The Irishman is based on the book 'I Heard you Paint Houses' by Charles Brandt, and is about Jimmy Hoffa, the Teamster Union boss, and his various dealings with the Mafia, including the hitman Frank Sheeran. The movie is to be directed by Martin Scorsese, and will star a number of other huge Hollywood names in addition to De Niro.

Some of the other big names that will be in The Irishman include Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, and the combination of big name actors under the direction of Scorsese is certain have movie buffs on tenterhooks as they wait to hear about the release date for the movie.

However, De Niro did express disappointment about a companion piece that may not be going ahead. Screenwriter, Eric Roth, had planned the companion piece which was to be a "semi-biographical type of Hollywood movie - a director and the actor - based on things Marty and I have experienced and kind of overlapping them."

However, De Niro said: "I don't know if that'll happen... although I would like it to if we can get it going."
