A riot, a shooting, a betrayal--just another day on Wisteria Lane - Season 7 Episode 10 recap

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES - Part of the success of ABC's Desperate Housewives is due to the mystery it plays out every season. This year's mystery presented a surprise twist with a bang as Sunday's episode, season 7 episode 10 "Down The Block There's a Riot," ended with villain Paul Young lying on the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. Young has been at the center of this year's mystery and some of the questions about his return to the neighborhood have been answered in the past two episodes. As part of his revenge on the neighbors he feels turned their back on him when he was wrongly imprisoned for murder, Young has been quietly buying the houses on Wisteria Lane in anticipation of building a halfway house for parolees in the neighborhood, much to the chagrin of the housewives.

Sunday night saw it come to a riotous conclusion as hundreds of protestors turned violent at a ceremony honoring Young for his work in the community. The subplots centered on Gaby's daughter, Juanita, who learned she was not her mother's biological daughter and was caught in the riots; Bree's boyfriend getting beaten up when he defended her against his father, who earlier had made a pass at her; and the conflict between Susan and Renee over Renee's love for Lynette's husband, Tom.

However, the question viewers will be asking themselves in the weeks before the show's January return is "Who shot Paul Young?" Ironically, an actor who was at the center of one of the biggest mysteries in television history will be joining the show next year. Larry Hagman, who played the evil J.R. Ewing on the hit 80s show Dallas, will play the boyfriend of Lynette's mother. The Dallas episode, "Who Done It?" where the question "Who Shot J.R.?" was answered is one of the most watched television episodes of all time. Will viewers be just as anxious to find out who shot Paul Young?
