'Ringer' Season 1, Episode 11 Recap - 'It Just Got Normal'

Ringer Season 1 Episode 11Ringer” has been on break for a long time. In case you’ve forgotten, before the holidays Bridget fell in love with Andrew and Juliet said her teacher raped her. Gemma got killed a million times but rose from the dead like a villain at the end of a teen slasher movie, only to be shot for the hundred and first time and killed. Also Siobhan is back in town. That should about cover it.

This week’s episode of “Ringer” jumps forward a bit in time, although not that far. The police have ruled Gemma’s death a homicide by John, who they think killed himself. Henry isn’t so sure and he wants Agent Pretty Eyes to investigate the link with Bridget Kelly. He does that by going to the East Hamptons (in the off season no less! The horror!) to banter with a sassy waitress who tells him John was there with Siobhan. Whether this means more trouble for Siobhan or for Bridget-pretending-to-be-Siobhan is yet to be seen.

Speaking of the real Siobhan, she’s lurking around the city like a serial killer watching her sister shower and stealing gigantic diamond rings. She has apparently decided to pass up the luxuries of Paris, post-murder, for the thrills and excitement of pretending to be the sister who’s pretending to be her. Did you get that? Good, because neither did I!

The important things to know are the following:

1. Bridget is one step closer to tracing Siobhan back to Paris thanks to some peonies and the long-ago discovery of her adultery by another friend who may or may not get shot in the face twelve times before the season is out.

2. Siobhan is after Andrew’s Martin Charles financial statements, which she implies to Tyler have been cooked to make the company look better to investors. This probably doesn’t mean good things for poor Malcolm’s new job security.

3. Siobhan’s icy, cold heart only melts for one person: Henry. We can tell they are meant to be because Henry is equipped for Siobhan’s iciness due to the fact that he’s always wearing either a turtleneck or a really serious scarf. Siobhan makes a date with Henry but then misses it to download Andrew’s information and see what she looks like naked while skulking behind Bridget in the shower. When Henry confronts a very confused Bridget, she blows him off. Poor Henry’s brain then explodes into tiny bits and pieces. At episode’s end Siobhan shows back up and Henry wonders which personality she’s currently manifesting. Will she tell Henry the truth? The better question might be does anyone really care about Henry and Siobhan’s illicit love story? I know I really don’t. I’d much rather see Siobhan shoot some people in gigantic earrings than cry over Henry’s mock turtlenecks.

4. You can tell the difference between Siobhan and Bridget because Siobhan always wears her hair back in an uptight bun and Bridget has ugly bangs now. Thanks hair department! We wouldn’t want to have to rely on acting for that.

Meanwhile, Juliet is acting really weird and Bridget picks up on it. Basically, Juliet is moping but not complaining loudly or being a huge brat. Juliet’s friend thinks that she should tell her parents about the whole Mr. Carpenter forcing himself issue, but Juliet says that things are finally going well and she doesn’t want to rock the boat. But the boat starts seriously rocking when a charity auction thrown at her penthouse puts Juliet, Bridget and Mr. Carpenter all together. Juliet, wearing some kind of sexy court jester outfit, gets drunk and makes a spectacle of herself. When she goes in to talk to her, Bridget finds out the truth and then barrels out into the party to punch Mr. Carpenter right in the face. Because Bridget is the streetwise sister, remember?

At episode’s end the Juliet situation is still left up in the air. Bridget’s bling ring is still gone but she’s closer on Siobhan’s tracks than ever. And Siobhan seems dangerously close to revealing why she’s going through with this long-con. Despite the fact that this show moves at a feverish pace (this is only halfway through the season after all!) I doubt it’ll show its hand so early on one of its driving mysteries.

What did you think of “Ringer”’s return? Excited for the soapy fun or feeling twin overload? Do you think Siobhan will tell Henry the truth? Sound off in the comments!
