Ricky Gervais on 'The Daily Show': 'This is what I think I should apologize for about the Golden Globes: F*** all'

Ricky Gervais on 'The Daily Show': 'This is what I think I should apologize for about the Golden Globes: F*** all' Jon Stewart wants Ricky Gervais to apologize for the Golden Globes.

"Here's what you have to apologize about for the Golden Globes," joked Stewart in an interview with Gervais on "The Daily Show.". "Making people like me -- who've also hosted these events -- feel inadequate by being that funny. ... It hurt my self-esteem, and I think you do owe me an apology."

Classic Jon Stewart misdirection. Stewart, like just about every other comedian on the planet, thought Gervais' performance at the Golden Globes was brilliant. Sure, it was a little edgy, but that's comedy.

Gervais is adamant in his stance: "This is what I think I should apologize for about the Golden Globes: F*** all," the comedian quipped in his appearance on "The Daily Show."

"They weren't injured soldiers...they were people that pretend to be someone else all day," he added. He has a point: with the possible exception of Robert Downey Jr., whom Gervais mocked about his past drug addiction, it's not as though the British funnyman was deriding anyone where it wasn't deserved.

It was ultimately a pretty good conversation about how ridiculous the backlash against Gervais was. After all, what were they expecting when they hired him? This is a man whose HBO special involved him miming sex acts onstage.
