Reunited and it Feels So Good: Paula Abdul Officially Joins Simon Cowell on 'The X Factor'

Reunited and it Feels So Good: Paula Abdul Officially Joins Simon Cowell on 'The X Factor' Yesterday, after months of speculation, FOX finally announced that Paula Abdul will be on the judging panel on the U.S. version of "The X Factor."

At the first round of auditions Sunday afternoon, Abdul joined her "American Idol" cohost Simon Cowell, British recording artist Cheryl Cole and record-label executive L.A. Reid on the stage.

Cowell seems genuinely pleased to be working with Abdul again gushing, "This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this -- I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show."

Abdul hasn't seen much action since her "Idol" days, with the exception of her "Live to Dance" bomb this season. She was, however, a much-talked about part of the "Idol" judging panel and still maintains a large, devoted fanbase.

During the audition introductions Abdul told Cowell, “I’m thrilled that you invited me back." Turning to the crowd she continued, "It’s a blessing to be part of this. And I couldn’t be more thrilled to have someone on the panel here also who has experienced what it’s like to sit next to him… Miss Cheryl Cole.”

Hopefully the novelty won't wear off too soon. Abdul joked, "I'm also delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again... but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!"

Judge L.A. Reid was clear that he would be unique in his approach and role telling "Factor" hopefuls, “To be clear, I’m not the Randy of the panel. I don’t say ‘dawg,’ but I do judge talent honestly. I’m brutally honest."

After all the hype we just hope the highly anticipated competition will be a hit and we guarantee we will be watching when it premieres September 1.
