Report: Peyton Manning Meets Wednesday With Titans

Report: Peyton Manning Meets Wednesday With Titans Why not? Let's cast one more team into the Get-Peyton fray.

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams has told Nashville's WSMV-TV that he will be spending Wednesday with recently released Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning hoping he can lure the Super Bowl-winning four-time MVP and future Hall of Famer into signing for the upcoming season.

"I think he's . . . wanting to sign up with somebody pretty quickly," Adams said by phone. He's rumored to be joined by Titans head coach Mike Munchak and others in courting Manning.

ESPN.com speculated that Munchak's recent talks with free-agent offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson might've been a calculated step in the right direction of enticing Manning with solid protection for his recently surgically repaired neck. It was that very surgery and speculation about his performance level relative to his due salary that led the Colts to part ways with Manning earlier this month.

"I want Manning," Adams told the Nashville Tennessean Sunday. "I'd love to see him in Titan blue after watching him so many years with the Colts . . . I want him. I am ready to do what it takes to get him aboard, and I think he'd be the guy to get us into the playoffs."

Manning, a former star for the University of Tennessee Volunteers before becoming an NFL ironman who hadn't missed a Colts start from the time he was drafted prior to last season, has also had talks recently with the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals.
