Report: Kate Gosselin Made Her Nannies Eavesdrop on Jon & Kids

Report: Kate Gosselin Made Her Nannies Eavesdrop on Jon & Kids Have you ever watched "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and wondered what's really going on behind the scenes? One of the reality TV couple's nannies is here to answer all your questions.

Basically, according to the E! News interview with one of Kate Gosselin's former employees, the house was a nightmare in which nothing was allowed to be on the floor, even shoes, and telephone calls were monitored.

All of Kate's "pet peeves" were written down in a handbook for the nannies to read and refer to if they ever had any questions about the house rules.

"You couldn't put anything on the ground," said the anonymous former nanny. "You had to put shoes in a certain spot. You couldn't close doors loudly. You could only vacuum during certain times of the day if she was home."

Those are certainly quirks, but asking one's employees to eavesdrop on phone conversations between the kids and their father is another thing entirely. "When Jon called the kids on the phone, Kate said to us nannies, ‘You are Kate, so always listen in on the phone calls.'"

We can't imagine the chills the nannies felt upon being told, "You are Kate."

Other details of the house are more flattering of Kate. For example, the kids were punished for misbehaving by being made to pull weeds outside, which one could argue is better than being sent to one's room or spanked in terms of efficacy or levels of abuse. Also, Kate made all work stop at 9:00pm, which sounds like a good idea to us.

However, there's one more details of the childrens' lives that makes us cringe: According to the source, the younger kids would watch "Jon & Kate Plus 8" every night before bed, calling it "mommy and daddy's show."

"It was their favorite thing to watch," said the ex-employee.

Shudder.
