Reiser Fall: Ratings Continue to Plummet for 'The Paul Reiser Show'

Reiser Fall: Ratings Continue to Plummet for 'The Paul Reiser Show' "My Two Dads" it ain't.

As we reported last week, after shrugging off social media in general in an article for The Huffington Post, Paul Reiser found the premiere week ratings for his NBC comedy "The Paul Reiser Show" were pretty awful. Turns out they've only gotten worse.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reiser is staring in the face of some seriously gruesome ratings for his new show in its second week.

"After debuting with anemic ratings, the half-hour comedy sank even lower on Thursday, drawing 2.5 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, down 18 percent. Meantime, its lead-in, a clip show-inspired 'Community' (3.3 million, 1.5) that had viewers raving online, was up 7 percent," said THR.

"The Paul Reiser Show" is Executive Produced by Paul Reiser, based on the life of Paul Reiser and acted by Paul Reiser, who has decided that Paul Reiser will not participate at all in social media with his fans.

So for a guy with such a golden track record, why is "The Paul Reiser Show" tanking?

Perhaps after years of success on TV with "My Two Dads" and "Mad About You," Reiser took enough time off (with the exception of guest roles on shows like "Curb Your Enthusiasm") to qualify as old news? Maybe Paul Reiser's life isn't all that interesting, the show's writing just not that funny?

Or maybe, as we suggested before the show premiered:

"While Reiser may have the Midas touch in the past, we can't help but wonder if his Luddite approach to fan interaction will take away the audience he will need to make the new midseason replacement show a success...."

Either way, we'd lay serious money on the show not lasting beyond this season.
