Reese Witherspoon Hitting the Gym for 'Legally Blonde 3'

Reese Witherspoon was already in great shape, but she wants to be in even better shape for her upcoming movie Legally Blonde 3. Witherspoon is hitting the gym for high-intensity workouts that will have her in incredibly shape in time for filming. Read on for details.

Reese Witherspoon is making sure her body is in incredible shape for Legally Blonde 3. She announced the trilogy on Instagram wearing a pink string bikini while floating on a blue raft, recreating the iconic pool scene from the 2001 hit. “It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3,” she captioned the June 7 video.

Us Weekly can now reveal the secret to the 42-year-old’s incredible physique: Burn 60. Katie Jo Zayon, training director at the Brentwood, California, studio where the Draper James founder is often seen working up a sweat, spoke to Us Weekly exclusively about why the workout is so effective.

“At Burn 60 we do a progression set where we start with weighted dumbbell squat presses, then we would continue in the same exercise standing on the Bosu ball to challenge your core and finally we would add holds and pulses towards the end of the set to push the muscles to failure,” explains Zayon. “The benefit to these exercises and the way in which they are performed is to recruit as many muscle groups as possible and to hit the slow and fast twitch muscle fibers resulting in lean and defined arms, abs, booties and legs.”

The high intensity interval training class, which boasts the tagline “Train Hard Train Happy,” incorporates treadmill intervals for both endurance and speed as well as strength and agility training, utilizing various types of fitness equipment and bodyweight-based moves.
