Reese Witherspoon 'Deeply Embarrassed' By Arrest

Following her arrest for disorderly conduct over the weekend, Reese Witherspoon has released a statement via her rep addressing her behavior.

"Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said," the statement says.

"It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."

Witherspoon’s husband, Jim Toth, was pulled over after officers spotted him weaving in and out of traffic and driving in the wrong lane.

The officer in the report described Toth as having droopy eyelids, blood shot and watery eyes, and a “strong odor” of alcohol.

After Toth was arrested, Witherspoon reportedly got out of the car and was instructed to get back in, but got out again and was arrested for disorderly conduct. The report details how she resisted as the officer took her arms, and Toth tried to calm her.

As the report states, "Mrs. Witherspoon asked, 'Do you know my name?' I answered, 'No, I don't need to know your name.' I then added, 'right now.' Mrs. Witherspoon stated, 'You’re about to find out who I am.'"

She told him, “You’re going to be on national news."

The two were jailed briefly and released on bond. Witherspoon’s case has been set for May 22nd.

Toth told officers he only had one drink, but his blood alcohol level was a .139. He faces a DUI charge. Both were spotted out and about at the "Mud" screening yesterday, looking no worse for wear.
