A Recipe for Humble Pie: Rachael Ray Makes Up with 'DWTS' Designer

A Recipe for Humble Pie: Rachael Ray Makes Up with 'DWTS' Designer Rachael Ray confronted her fashion fears while smoothing over conflict with ‘Dancing with the Stars" costume designer Randall Christensen.

Last week the TV chef enjoyed a slice of humble pie as she rocked a Latin ballroom dress that was custom-made by the designer who had been insulted by her repeated remarks regarding the show’s “super-revealing” costumes.

In a letter read on air by Ray, Christensen wrote:

“Do you have any idea how hard it is to sit and hear you talk about my work that way.”

During the Jan. 25 airing, Ray apologized immediately and explained she adored the costumes, but was too insecure to wear the Emmy Award-winning designs herself.

Apparently a change of heart (and wardrobe) was on the way. Taking on a personal challenge from Christensen, Ray slipped into a shimmering Swarvoski-studded, red number that was inspired by her own sparkle and sassy attitude.

Christensen told StyleList after the show that he chose the red for her fun personality.

"She's constantly moving on her show, dancing and having fun. I thought the red would reflect her personality and the fringe would just add more va-va-voom to the dress,” he said.

After revealing the dress to viewers, Ray showed off some moves with DWTS professional Tony Dovolani.

It remains unclear as to whether or not Ray will be trading in her apron for something more fringe. However, Christensen hinted he would “love-love-love” to work with Ray and her outgoing nature again.
