Rebel-Gate: The 'Pitch Perfect 2' Actress Responds to Accusations of Lying About her Past

Everyone needs to stop exactly what they're doing, because we have a major scandal on our hands and the world cannot continue to ignore it.

Rebel Wilson, the hilarious actress known for "Bridesmaids" and "Pitch Perfect" (she will also be reprising her role in the upcoming "Pitch Perfect 2"), has been lying to us.

An Australian tabloid broke the news first when an anonymous classmate of WIlson's came forward with the truth. Rebel Wilson was no Rebel at all, but Melanie Bownds of the Tara Anglican School for Girls in Sydney.

Worse, all this time we have been taking Wilson's word that she is 29 when in fact, according to sources, she was born in March of 1980. This makes her 35 years old, and therefore no longer deserving of our love. This may even make Ms. Wilson the first woman to ever lie about her age.

The controversy broke last week, and since then, business records filed with the Australian Securities and Investment Commision do show that Wilson is 35.

The Australian Electoral Roll also lists her real name as Melanie Elizabeth Bownds. Rebel had previously claimed that Melanie Elizabeth were middle names she chose to go by in school to avoid being teased.

Her claim that her parents gave all their children unusual names does stand up, however. Her siblings are named Ryot, Liberty, and Annachi. "Rebel" doesn't seem so far off, with that in mind.

She has also claimed that she grew up in "the ghetto" as the child of professional dog breeders specializing in beagles. While it has been confimed that her mother Sue does breed and show dogs, the "ghetto" where WIlson grew up was actually the well-to-do Castle Hill area.

So what does Rebel have to say about these terrible accusations?

"OMG I'm actually a 100 year old mermaid named 'CC Chalice' ... thanks shady Australian press for your tall poppy syndrome!" Wilson (If that IS her real name - and it's not) tweeted Monday.

"Okay but all jokes aside now... my real name is Fat Patricia," she admits.
