Producers Yank 'The Office' Promo's 'John Stamos' Gay Joke

Producers Yank 'The Office' Promo's 'John Stamos' Gay Joke Hey, NBC! Let's just make a little more ado about nothing, shall we?

Producers yanked joke referencing a certain raven-haired "Full House" alum from a promo for a then-upcoming "The Office" because they feared a gay reference would offend him into action against the network, TMZ reports. In the spot, Andy (Ed Helms) lying about his sexual preference to ditch his current girlfriend.

"I'm gay," he tells her. "I had to fake it. I had to imagine that I was in a steam room with John Stamos."

For his part, everyone's favorite Uncle Jesse took it in stride. So much so, that he legitimately didn't understand the fuss. It's not like he was a recurring season-two "Glee" guest star or shared a recent public embrace with a fellow man or anything like that.

"They thought that I'd be offended by the gay joke. But apparently, a week before, they didn't see me kiss man at the GLAAD Awards," Stamos said.

The afforementioned smooch was actually auctioned off  "Glee" stars Naya Rivera and Cory Monteith to help raise $15,000 for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. Stamos bid a cool - and probably much-appreciated - $5,000 to kiss Monteith, but instead took the stage and raised another $5,000 in a bidding war for a chance to lay one on Uncle Jesse.

Moral of the story? NBC is made of much stupid.
