Preview: The 'Glee' Cast Tackles Mariah's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' I do believe it was George Carlin that once many years ago joked that it had been a while since anybody wrote some new Christmas carols.

And, in all fairness, there was an episode of "The Simpsons" where Homer actually made the same observation, before writing a wintery classic about just how much he hates Ned Flanders.

But of all people, I think we can all admit that if anybody in recent memory has crafted a Christmas song that's actually stood the test of time and is somewhat of a modern classic, it's Mariah Carey.

You may remember her fondly from her younger and more inspired "Dreamlover" and "Hero" days. Maybe you can't get past . . . well, pretty much anything from "Glitter" onward. But from about Thanksgiving onward, no matter how sick you may get of every over-covered Christmas classic, you bob your head and smile when you hear her sing "All I Want For Christmas Is You." It doesn't matter if it's the original or the recent duet reeking of Bieber-stink.

That lungsome dove will have you drinkin' the egg nog.

That being said, McKinley High's New Directions kids will more than do it justice. Sure, last year's "Most Wonderful Day Of The Year" was a great Christmas present, but there's just an energy about this song that makes it the most reason Christmas tune that will probably stand the test of time and still be a holiday-radio favorite decades from now like Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song."

Here's a thought: got another favorite Christmas tune that's way under the radar? Maybe you prefer something like, say, Sarah Silverman's "Give The Jew Girl Toys?" Maybe, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's rendition of the "Freezer Mizer" song? Spout off in the comment section.
