'Pretty Little Liars' Star Signs on to New Thriller

While fans of Pretty Little Liars come to terms with rumors that the series could be ending after its upcoming seventh season, one of the show's stars continues to build her film resume. Shay Mitchell, who plays Emily on PLL, has announced that she will play the lead role in a new horror film due out in 2017.

Mitchell will star in Cadaver, a thriller about an ex-cop who takes a job working an overnight shift in a morgue as she recovers from an addiction. When the body of a murder victim arrives at the morgue, strange and horrifying things begin to happen, and Mitchell's character must cope.

Cadaver will be directed by Dutch filmmaker Diederik Van Rooijen, whose work is not well known in the United States. He has been tapped to direct a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, but that project has been in the works for several years.

Mitchell has been part of PLL for the past six seasons, and she will continue to be featured in the series in the upcoming season, which debuts on June 21. She has also recently appeared in the ensemble comedy Mother's Day and the indie comedy/drama Dreamland.
