Episode 'Pretty Little Liars' Season 2, Episode 2: 'The Goodbye Look' Recap

Episode 'Pretty Little Liars' Season 2, Episode 2: 'The Goodbye Look' Recap On top of the parental command for our little liars to stop seeing each other, the girls are now righteously freaked out about zombie Ian, who's back from the dead, texting like a 13 year-old girl and stealing backyard camping supplies from every house in the neighborhood.

Spencer continues her reign as the tensest sleuth in Rosewood as she spends the episode trying to figure out how much contact Melissa has had with Ian.  This leads to a lot of jaw clenching and barely contained conflict between the two sisters before Spencer catches her sister in a rainy day lie and figures out that Ian must be hiding within walking distance.

Meanwhile, Jason deLaurentis has moved back in to his family home and commenced getting rid of all Allison-related memorabilia along with some light menacing and implied animal cruelty.  What a creep!  I can’t wait to find out what why he’s back in town.

Omnipotent A has managed to erase Emily’s hard drive and so the girls are once again without any evidence that implicates Ian in murder and general sleaziness.  Emily only has a minute to worry about this before she’s talent scouted at her swim meet by both Danby University and hot queer activist Samarra.  Her mom promises to consider not moving them to Texas if Emily can get some kind of commitment from the scout.

Hannah’s dad shows up to “help” the daughter he never sees.  Hannah greets this intrusion with some epic teenage eye rolling and stair stomping.  He seems sincere though and decides to stick around for a few days, flustering Hannah’s mom with parental support and double entendre cocktail orders.

Mr. Fitz tells his students that he will be leaving Rosewood High to teach at the university effective immediately.  Aria goes through some music video angst about the relationship and breaks up with him via a handwritten note left in his underwood typewriter.  HA!  The next day after Mr. Fitz gives an inappropriately heartfelt goodbye speech to his high school students that is obviously a secret message of magical true love for his jailbait girlfriend, Aria reconsiders.  She finds him in the (empty?) school parking lot and they make out in slow motion while the sun breaks through the clouds.  No really, that actually happens.

At the end of the episode our girls meet up in secret to renew their collective friendship vows with a promise to lie as much as they have to in order to stay together.  That’s the spirit ladies!

Next week, they have what seems to be a séance with blind Jenna.  Can’t wait!
