Season 1 Episode 4 - "Can You Hear Me?"

The girls decide to do away with "A" and her messages for good. Only it's not as easy as they think. They all block her number in their phones and email but that doesn't stop "A."

Aria has a fight with her teacher and goes home to tell her mother about her father's affair. When she gets there her mom has just found out thanks to a letter sent from "A." Aria is scared and doesn't know what to do. Her family begins to fall apart.

Hanna's father comes into town and she meets her future stepmom and stepsister. Her father makes a comment about her weight (she's lost a lot of weight we find out) and it brings up a lot of feelings of insecurity. Later Hanna finds a message written in lipstick on her mirror from "A."

Spencer is alone while her family is away and Wren, her sister's ex-fiance shows up drunk. She drives him back to his motel along with Hanna. While walking him to his room Hanna sees him kiss Spencer. Just then a song on the radio is dedicated to them from "A."

Emily spends time with Maya and Maya gives her a speech about how much she loves her and will wait for her until she's ready for this relationship. Honestly this is a strange storyline and seems really out of place to me but we'll see what develops.

This episode brings 'A' to life because her messages are no longer contained to a cell phone, they're out in the open where the stakes are instantly raised!
