'Pretty Little Liars' Definitely Ending in 2017

It had been a foregone conclusion for quite some time, but this week it became official. Pretty Little Liars will come to an end after the finale of its seventh season in the summer of 2017. The series' creator and cast made the announcement via a Facebook Live broadcast on Monday, confirming the rumors that PLL fans had hoped weren't true.

Showrunner I. Marlene King and cast members Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse broke the news to fans, expressing some sadness, but also hope for the future.

"It’s been an honor to work with such a talented cast and crew over the last seven years. We are a family, and it will be hard to say goodbye to a show that has made such an impact on young audiences and been a mouthpiece for cultural change," said King. "I’m excited for fans to finally have all of their questions answered, and I believe they will be satisfied with the wild ride that is our last ten episodes."

Those last ten episodes constitute the second half of PLL's seventh season, which will begin airing on Freeform in April of next year. The series will begin its mid-season hiatus this week.
