Premiere Week Ratings: 'Kevin Can Wait,' 'The Good Place,' 'American Horror Story' All Score
by EG
This is the week that we finally get to see many of the fall TV season's new series, as well as the season premieres of some old favorites. By the looks of the ratings from the beginning of the premiere blitz, viewers have been eagerly waiting for this moment, and several series premiere episodes have already turned in some impressive ratings numbers.
It all started last Wednesday, when the sixth season of American Horror Story debuted. The much-anticipated season premiere earned a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 age demographic. That was not only enough to make it the highest rated non-sports program on cable for the week, easily beating Fear The Walking Dead, but it also held up well to competition on the broadcast networks. AHS's rating among young viewers tied that of both the Emmys broadcast and America's Got Talent, putting the three programs in a dead heat for the highest-rated non-sports program on both network and cable.
Two new broadcast series also had encouraging debuts. Kevin James's Kevin Can Wait on CBS earned a 2.6 rating on Monday, putting it in third place for the night, just behind The Big Bang Theory and The Voice. Kristen Bell's The Good Place was close behind with a 2.3, winning its time slot with ease.
