Police Search Gene Simmons' Home

Police in Los Angeles executed a search warrant at the home of rock star/reality TV star/businessman Gene Simmons on Thursday. The authorities involved were part of the city's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, but a police spokesman made it clear that neither Simmons nor any member of his family was suspected of any wrongdoing.

Police say that the search is part of an ongoing investigation, but they offered no details about the alleged crime, other than to say that it is something that may have occurred last year while Simmons was away from home touring with his band, KISS. Simmons and his family have been very cooperative with the investigation, according to police, and Simmons' wife, Shannon Tweed, tweeted a reassurance and thank you to her followers after the search.

"Thanks for your support," she said. "We couldn't be more horrified that someone used our residence for such heinous crimes. Law enforcement is on it."

Simmons has been a high-profile figure for over four decades, first as a front man for the flamboyant rock band KISS and later as a star of the reality TV series Gene Simmons Family Jewels. He's always been an outspoken figure, and although a representative for Simmons has said that the family has been asked not to discuss the case to avoid compromising the investigation, don't expect the silence to last for long.
