WTF: Police Investigating Rebecca Black Death Threats

WTF: Police Investigating Rebecca Black Death Threats Today in "are you kidding me" news: someone has sent two death threats to 13-year-old YouTube sensation Rebecca Black. Black made waves in all platforms of pop culture when she released a music video for her pop song "Friday," which was both criticized and loved for how awesomely bad it is.

Sources from the Anaheim police report that the threats were made by phone and by email through Black's management company, and that they essentially said that Black's music should be taken off the internet, or she would be killed.

The beauty and the horror of the internet are both in play here.

The fact that a 13-year-old could write a dumb but catchy little song, put it online, and become a star is what the internet is all about (or what YouTube is all about, anyway). "Friday" was even sung by Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" recently.

But the fact that horrible people can sit back and anonymously send frightening threats is the unfortunate side effect of all of the internet's openness. I mean, really? You're going to send death threats to a middle schooler? Over a song? It makes my blood boil.

Here's what I propose, if they find this person (or people) who sent these death threats, I say the Anaheim police should throw them in jail and force them to listen to "Friday" on repeat for the next 10 years.
