Polanski's 'The Ghost Writer' Bags Six Titles at the 2010 European Film Awards

<a href=The Ghost Writer Movie Poster" src="//cfm.yidio.com/images/article/images/artcile_167.jpg" style="margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px; margin-top: 5px; margin-bottom: 5px; float: left; width: 300px; height: 444px; " />Roman Polanski’s political thriller movie "The Ghost Writer" won six categories including Best Picture at the recently concluded European Film Awards in Tallin, Estonia.

Polanski received his awards via Skype from his home in Paris. The award-winning director cannot travel outside France, Switzerland, or Poland due to his standing warrant of arrest from his 1977 sex charges against a 13-year old in the U.S.

Ewan McGregor also won the Best Actor Award. In the film, he portrays the role of a “ghost writer” hired to scribe the memoirs of a former British Prime Minister. He discovered disturbing information about the PM while co-writing the book. Pierce Brosnan played the role of the Prime Minister in the movie.

“The Ghost Writer” also received the Screen Writer Award (Robert Harris and Roman Polanski), Production Designer (Albrecht Konrad) and Composer (Alexandre Desplat).

During the Saturday night ceremony, the European Film Academy also rendered a life-time recognition for the Swiss Actor Bruno Ganz.

The European film Academy started in 1988 to recognize and celebrate the hard work and talent of the people of film industry in Europe. The European Film is the counterpart of Hollywood Oscars in the United States.
