Piers Morgan Confirms - He Has Left CNN

Piers Morgan Confirms - He Has Left CNN Piers Morgan has left CNN!

The controversial host of "Piers Morgan Live" took to his Twitter account to announce the split.

"BREAKING NEWS: I am no longer a @CNN employee," he wrote.

Morgan went on to tell his followers that he was offered a "new 2-year deal" by CNN boss Jeff Zucker to host 40 interview specials.

"But after considerable thought, I decided not to accept it - and to try pastures new," he explained.

While he plans to leave the network, Piers still says that he has "huge respect" for Zucker and everyone at CNN, and has enjoyed his time there.

"Great company, great network."

In 2010, Morgan replaced Larry King on the network's prime time slot, but low ratings and controversy over Morgan's views forced a cancelation in February. Morgan announced at the time that he and Zucker were in discussion to work out a new role for him at CNN, but clearly that didn't pan out as he had expected.

"If I'm to be remembered for anything CNN, I'd like it to be this," Morgan captioned a YouTube video of his interview with gun advocate and conservative radio host Alex Jones. Within it Jones presents a petition to have Morgan (a supporter of gun control) deported back to England.

"I wouldn't crack open the champagne too quickly though," Morgan added. "@NRA - I haven't finished with you lot yet."

In addition to "Piers Morgan," the forthright host has appeared on "America's Got Talent," and "Britain's Got Talent," as well as "Celebrity Apprentice."
