Phew! 'Hobbit' Director Peter Jackson Fine, Recuperating From Perforated Ulcer

Somewhere, a grown man with a "One Ring to Rule Them All" tattoo, who occasionally dresses up like Frodo from "Lord of the Rings" and knows how to speak Elvish, just ordered his friends a round of shots.

Peter Jackson, director of the the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and the upcoming two-part film "The Hobbit," is apparently home and just fine after being rushed to a hospital in New Zealand. Jackson had emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer after undergoing a mind-boggling process to get production for the film underway.

Jackson's publicist Melissa Booth told the AP that the director will continue his recuperation at home and that filming of the two-part "The Hobbit" will suffer from only minimal delays.

As we reported earlier this week, Jackson had to suffer through years of mindless nonsense from studios, financiers, unions and politicians to simply start the latest installment of his wildly successful series of films.

Jackson is set to start filming the prequel to his "Lord of the Rings" trilogy next month, and the film is slated for release in late 2012.

The new film features Elijah Wood as Frodo, Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel and Andy Serkis returning as Gollum.

Godspeed and good health to you, Peter.
