'Pretty Little Liars' EP Maintains that A's Just-Revealed Identity Is An Existing Character: 'You've Definitely Met This Person'

If you're a "Pretty Little Liars" fan, you probably already know that the show just aired a finale episode that finally—finally—revealed the identity of "A," the series' mysterious antagonist.

It was a long-awaited moment, but unfortunately fans are not happy with who "A" turned out to be. At all.

Spoilers ahead!

There were many fan theories, but it turned out that "A" wasn't even a character we had heard of before. Instead, "A" turned out to be Charles, a new name to the show, and his face wasn't even shown in the episode.

A quick look through Twitter results for the #BigAReveal hashtag show that fans were...less than pleased. "I'm so f--kin pissed at PLL! That is some bullshit!" one wrote. Another expressed her frustration thusly: "ARE YOU BEING SERIOUS? WTF WAS THAT? I WAITED FOREVER FOR THIS. WHYYY."

However, executive producer Oliver Goldstock maintains that this wasn't just a big bait-and-switch. "Well, I'm just going to say, that anagram is going to lead to answer," he said in an interview with THR. "That name will lead to something that will not be a red herring."

"You've definitely met this person," he added.

So don't worry, PLL fans: Charles isn't just some rando that the show's writers created out of nowhere. We'll just have to wait even longer to figure out who he is.
