Penthouse Gets In Your Face With First Adult 3D Channel

Depending on how you view it, Americans have all the more reason to justify their envy or superiority over Europeans.

On March 1st, North American audiences will watch from afar when Penthouse launches the first Pan European 3D formatted adult channel.

The use of the new technology follows Hustler’s announcement that they would also be supporting 3D programming for Europe in March.

With the 3D trend on the rise and the adult industry on the front lines, commentators look back at the history of entertainment and give the adult industry credit for playing an important role in the early days and adoption of VCRs, DVRs and Webcams.

“We are very excited about the launch of the Penthouse 3D channel,” says Marc Bell, CEO of FriendFinder Networks. “Our goal is always to deliver the latest technology on the world’s best platform.”

The adult entertainment industry brings in an estimated $13 billion a year and was long thought to be recession-proof.

But recently, pirated videos and free content online lead to drastic drops in DVD sales and online membership sites. The move towards incorporating emerging technologies like 3D TV could keep the industry afloat.
